Record Description |
"A Ruff draft of the butings and boundings of each house in Leading Hall Street; & the names of the Severall Tennants belonging to Rochester bridg" (paper, colour, plan and elevation with dimensions and names of tenants). Another faded, but legible, copy on parchment, dated 1713, bound in map book E01/02/014. [N.B. The undated paper plan notes that ownership of the land at the end of Shaft Alley was disputed. The wardens ordered in May 1712 that "the Map of the Bridg Estat in London be made according to a draft given in, tho it be with land now in despute" (A01/001, f. 103). Based on this combination of internal and external evidence, a date of 1712 has been assigned to the undated paper plan. The elevations on the 1712 rough draft and 1713 copy are stylised representations of building frontages rather than accurate representations of the shape of the buildings or number of storeys.] |
