The Rochester Bridge Trust has built and maintained numerous Medway crossings since medieval times. In the late fourteenth century the old Roman bridge was destroyed by winter storms.

The Wildlife of the North Kent Marshes

Alan Jarrett, Senior Warden, Rochester Bridge Trust

As well as serving as the Senior Warden of the Trust, Alan Jarrett has been wildfowling for over 40 years, mostly in Kent but variously around other English and Scottish estuaries and firths and latterly abroad. He is a well-known sports writer. His first book, Wildfowling? One Winter’s Tale, was published in 1988 with Shooting At Clays published in 1991. To date he has published over 600 articles on all facets of country sports, conservation and other subjects. Alan is the current Chairman of both the British Association for Shooting and Conservation and the Kent Wildfowling and Conservation Association.

Lectures will be held in the medieval Bridge Chapel, 5 Esplanade, Rochester, ME1 1QE. Refreshments available from 6:30 p.m. Lectures begin promptly at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are free but MUST be booked in advance from Sue Reilly by email or by telephone on 01892 513033.
